Alisa Rose, Violin, Voice, Teaching Composer

11arViolinist, improviser, educator, and composer Alisa Rose pursues music across many genres. As a member of the Real Vocal String Quartet, she performed and taught in Macedonia, Azerbaijan, and Macedonia as an Ambassador of the State Department. RVSQ also appeared on Feist’s most recent album Metals, and on the Jay Leno Show. Alisa has played with diverse artists including A.J. Roach and the Strange Pilgrims on PBS’s Song of the Mountains, with the Keisa Duo at Carnegie Hall, at TEDx Alcatraz with Bob Weir, and with Quartet San Francisco on NPR’s Weekend Edition. Alisa appeared with the bluegrass band 49 Special at the 2009 Rockygrass Festival where they took first prize in the band competition in 2008.

From 2008 to 2012 Alisa performed with and arranged pieces for Quartet San Francisco; their record QSF Plays Brubek was nominated for a Grammy in 2009. From 2001 - 20010 Alisa developed an outreach program for the San Francisco Conservatory of Music at Starr King El-ementary School. Currently she maintains a home studio, and teaches at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music Preparatory Department.
